About this Date Difference Calculator
This calculator measures the time between two dates using both calendar units and exact elapsed time. It can compare dates in the past, track a future target, or continuously measure time from a starting date to the present moment.
Calendar difference versus total days
“1 month” does not always contain the same number of days. The main result therefore uses real calendar years, months, and days, while the totals section also shows the exact elapsed days, hours, minutes, and seconds.
How inclusive day counting works
- By default, the starting date is counted and the ending date is excluded.
- Enable “Include the ending date” when counting a stay, trip, event, or schedule where both boundary dates should count.
- The inclusive option affects calendar-day, weekday, and weekend counts, not the exact elapsed clock duration.
Weekdays and business days
Weekdays are Monday through Friday. Public holidays vary by country and region, so this tool does not automatically subtract them.
