About the 0-60 calculator
A 0–60 time measures how long a vehicle takes to accelerate from rest to 60 mph. The closely related 0–100 km/h test ends at 62.14 mph. This calculator estimates either benchmark, or a custom target, from the vehicle's power, loaded weight, power delivery, drivetrain, transmission, tires, and road grip.
How the estimate works
The model first calculates the kinetic energy needed to reach the target speed, then divides it by estimated wheel power. Real-world delivery losses, vehicle type, shifts, and a traction floor are applied so the result is more realistic than a perfect-physics minimum.
What the result can and cannot predict
This is an informed estimate, not a substitute for instrumented testing. Peak-power accuracy, torque curve, gearing, tire temperature, surface quality, slope, air density, battery state, launch technique, rollout rules, and electronic controls can all change a real run. The displayed range reflects some of that uncertainty.
What is a good 0-60 time?
- Under 3.5 seconds: supercar-level or very quick high-performance EV acceleration.
- 3.5 to 4.5 seconds: genuinely fast sports-car performance.
- 4.5 to 6 seconds: quick and strong for road use.
- 6 to 8 seconds: capable everyday acceleration.
- Over 8 seconds: relaxed acceleration, common in economy or heavy vehicles.
Why published times may differ
Some publications subtract a one-foot rollout while others time from a true standstill. That alone can improve a reported time by roughly two or three tenths of a second. Always compare tests that use the same timing method and similar conditions.
